James Boyd Dalton (J.B.), age 88, of Knoxville, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2017 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's at his home surrounded by his loving family. J.B. professed faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and of Phil Lovorn Sunday School Class. J.B. (Boyd) was formerly employed by Berkline, Modern Chair Company, and Youngblood of Morristown, Tennessee. He retired from Garden State International of San Jose, California. James Boyd Dalton (J.B.), age 88, of Knoxville, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2017 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's at his home surrounded by his loving family. J.B. professed faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and of Phil Lovorn Sunday School Class. J.B. (Boyd) was formerly employed by Berkline, Modern Chair Company, and Youngblood of Morristown, Tennessee. He retired from Garden State International of San Jose, California. After moving to Knoxville from Sunnyvale, California, he was employed by Peterbilt and Kenworth. In his later years, J.B. (Boyd) enjoyed farming with his son and grandsons. Preceded in death by father and mother, O.C. and Louise Meyers Dalton; sisters, Velma Knox, Audrey Spoon; brothers, Roy and M.F. Dalton all of Morristown. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley; son, James L. Dalton and fiancé Leslie Barbee of Corryton; special grandsons, Kenneth and Devin; sisters, Ruby (Leslie) Griffie, Edith Dalton; brothers, Max (Betty), Doyle (Jeanie) Dalton all of Morristown; sister-in-law, Marie Dalton; brother-in-law, Frank Spoon; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cora and Ray Lewis, of Knoxville; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregiver, Larry Smith for his dedicated service. The family wishes to also thank U.T. Hospice. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 pm Friday, June 16th at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Dr. The funeral service will follow with Drs. Alan Price and Charles Earl and Rev. Tim Hopkins officiating. Music by Craig Waggoner. Interment will be 11 am Saturday, June 17 at Lynnhurst Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Phil Lovorn Sunday School Class.
